I don't think most people use swear words in order to hurt others, I think it's just a way of "spicing up" the things they say.

We swear a lot.

You can hear lot of "putain", "merde", or "fait chier" whenever you mess up with something.

We don't lack adjectives or adverbs, the only one we use to emphazise is putain, like "un putain de chien a traversé la route".

In my experience swear word usage varies a lot by person. My mother likes to use swear words a lot, especially when she's just in front of her family (my dad + me). Me and my dad rarely use them at all.

My favourite taboo word in Salvadoran Spanish is probably encular. It means "to be in love with somebody", but said in a vulgar and criticizing way. In English you could maybe approximate it with "to get into your fucking head".

Yeah, there was that one time where I said "Va niquer ta mère" ("Go fuck yourself", or "Go fuck your mother" to be clear) to this uppity son of a bitch and he took it real bad.

But otherwise "merde" and "putain" are common language, even though you can't expect to be well appreciated if you use them too much. "Putain de bordel de merde" is a variation of this. "Motherfucking shit" or something like that. You can add to it whatever you like, this way "Putain de bordel de merde de chiasse de pute". This is fun
