>>68606190
>You use the word banter instead don't you?
English using the word "banter" like the word "craic" is the same shite as the word "craic".
It's a totemic word onto which degenerate consumers of nationless, unproductive consumeristic "culture" project their sense that they ought to be doing something more significant and significantly Irish than merely drinking international alcohol brands in a way fostered by the international media's normalisation of degenerate consumption of alcohol.
>>68606394

>>68606447
I'm not from anywhere near the Pale m8, and I'm basing my observations of the use of the word by the inhabitants of the Pale, seeing how I never saw it used in anything other than a cringeworthy way in a gaelscoil as a way to be "hip".
Besides, if you're saying that it can be used as such a broad array of meanings as "banter", then that's another strike against it - a meaningless word used to convey faux-authenticity.
>>68606513
Not an argument.

maybe for you because you dont understand how irish people use it you meff
>>68606393
It's not really noticeable, but the way we speak English is different to how normal Anglos would. The syntax gets reversed quite often because we've lifted the structure from Irish to English, and just translated phrases.
Like, if you're agreeing with a statement that someone's said, you can just said "sure that's it" (because the Irish was sin é). "Sure look" is another saying that has no meaning at all.
>the smell
They're countryfolk so they smell like silage and cow shit. It's not really that noticeable after the week or so, once you get used to the smell, but you'll definitely fucking smell it.

Besides, if all you're referring to is "banter" and the phrase "what's the craic" where AAVE might say "what's the haps", I've already acknowledged those meanings of the term.
I am not ignorant of the meaning of the word, I just dislike it and the connotations and significance a certain type of person applies to this word. The fact that what I said was met with such vehemence would suggest that the significance (wrongly) attached to the word is something that pervades the use of the word.
>>68606859

>>68611795
>I'd like to know why you think Terminator 2 is not equal to the first
It's not as bad as Aliens, because it keeps a lot of the successful elements of Terminator 1, and has some imagination with elements of the plot and damn near all the visuals, but the whole plot is cheap sequel-fodder.
>Let's send another terminator back (ie: the same plot as before)
>even though them having the ability to send as many terminators back in time means either that Skynet will keep doing this until they win, and/or that all of this is pre-determined and we might as well give up because we can't control our destinies if a near-omnipotent machine from the future can just influence the past (in response to its past attempts to influence the past?)
Plus if I'm recalling it correctly the human resistance sent Kyle Reese through the same time machine as Arnie because Skynet sent him back as a last resort since the Resistance had captured Skynet's main base.
Where did Skynet find the time (pun not intended) to build and send another terminator through time to kill John Connor, and why not just send a second terminator to Arnold and fix the problem there?
The time travel paradoxes of the first movie can be waved away with Clarke's Third Law and appeal to suspension of disbelief, but the second's messing with the "closed loop" takes it into headache-inducing "rule of cool" shlock that undermines the "scariness" of the first film, similar to how Aliens turned the horrific creature of the first film into something that can be fought an defeated through trivial and mundane means.
>>68612023
I used to go camping there, the area is pretty snug. I lived about an hour away from it.
wtf
The guy who played Pavel Chekov in the new Star Trek movies died a couple of months ago?
>>68612175
Pavel?
>>68612081
It could be dismissed as they could've sent the second terminator through before they sent Arnold
As for sending them piecemeal, I suspect it's either because of the nature of time travel (Big energy drain) or Skynet lacks certain logical processing
Or perhaps they suffer from "We're the superior beings, why waste resources?"
It can be dismissed through deep thought though I will admit it was poorly thought out, and after Terminator 2 the series was trash.
>>68612175
I thought he died a year or so ago
It sucks, I thought he was a pretty good actor
Definitely cut down too early
>>68612198
too soon
>>68612211
He was a great actor and I'm kinda sad now that he won't be in any future Star Trek movies.. They won't have the character recast either.
>>68612081
>>68611795
So to sum up that point, the messing with the time travel plot reduces the in-universe significance and sense of threat of Terminator 1's story.
Further, the aesthetics and tone of Terminator 2 reduce the dark and oppressive attitude of the first one from "tense thriller" to "rowdy raucous action movie", keeping only the bare minimum of the "chase" plot to keep the sequels passable, though not deserving of greater praise (except perhaps T2 for its special effects use).
In Terminator 1, the "memes" and catchphrases felt more natural in the plot, giving the sense of the robot being awkward and alien in human society, whereas T2 Terminator is pure "bathos" and deliberate lackadaisicality - the robot is deliberately goofy, and the violence isn't there so much as to establish the threat of the bad guy and the risk to the goodies, it's there for its own sake as sensory-overloading distractions. Admittedly it is very good at doing that, perhaps one of the best movies at that of all time, but it's not the same type of movie as Terminator 1, and I don't think Terminator 1 deserved to be undermined so that T2 could exist.
>>68612175
Yes, it was a freak car accident. He was pinned up against the wall in his garage.
They weren't likely to keep "reboot" Star Trek running though.
>>68612211
>after Terminator 2 the series was trash.
I actually loved Terminator 3, because it's a deconstruction of everything I didn't like that they changed between Terminator 1 and 2.
Arnold is tired, John Connor is crazed from looking over his shoulder constantly, and both of them look rightly fed up with the whole time travel shenanigans, and the woman they drag along with them takes the piss out of both the science fiction and the time travel determinism.
This whole scene bumped the movie to an 11/10 for me. One of the best comedy films of all time.

Bunúsach, a Mac Uait uasail.
There were only ever two possibilities; firstly, that this was perpetrated by a lone psychopath, or that it was an "inside job", if you will, conducted by associates or enemies of the girl in question. They were leaving it on a "slow boil" rather than kicking up the stink that would have to be kicked up to satisfy hysteria were it a psycho, so it's obviously the slag equivalent of mafia extortion, and her "loss of memory" might well just be "Omerta" in action.
Says a lot about the absolute shtate of Irish women desu.

GET BEHIND ME SATAN
Only noticed recently how small a lot of girls on the east coast are, like below 5'6". I always just assumed they were Junior-Cert students based on the average height back in the Wesht, but I've observed people I know from uni standing next to each other and the fact that everyone's wearing raincoats is obscuring optical illusions both tall and short girls would use to make themselves seem more average, and I can't help but come to the conclusion that shorter women are more common than I had realised or had observed in my native region.
Has anyone else observed something similar? Why have I not noticed womanlets before?
Is a car battery in a potato sack the natural evolution of the Duracells in a sock?

Meant to post this one.
>>68621398
No, nuclear-grade uranium in a steel-toed boot is.
>>68621369
Isn't the average height for a girl here 5'4" ?
I actually noticed the opposite. Girls here in Dublin seem to be taller and girls in places like Galway seem to be shorter.
NI has shorter men and women from what I've seen. I'm 5'7" and I actually felt tall when I was in Belfast

>>68621928
I can see why some girls would have a problem with it, especially if they wear heels.
I know a girl who's 5'11" and complains that every man is shorter than her when she wears her heels. Bitch is 6'5" in heels obviously almost every man will be shorter.
Thankfully my own Gf doesn't seen to care that much. She's the same height as me.
