It is. The drug war was started by a right wing catholic party (PAN). We used to be pretty socialists back in the day (1917-1960), and it was unironically our best time, if there ever was one but everything went to shit in the 60's and we turned to the right and went full neoliberalism in the 80s. NAFTA is a good example of that.
