Some of my favorite Spanglish words that I see in California:

"Parquear" for parking.
"troca" for truck.

"Voy a parquear mi troca"

"renta" for rent
"carpeta" for carpet
"marketa" for market
"pari" for party

I would also add that by far the most common thing is seeing parents speak to their kids in Spanish and the kids reply in English. I've met so many families where the mom speaks very broken English and the kids speak very broken Spanish. They have enough listening comprehension in the language, the parents in English and the kids in Spanish, but not enough to speak it.

I remember hearing the story of a man needing help with his computer because it had viruses. He looked on the newspaper if anyone was offering their computer expertise. He found an add saying "se vacunan carpetas" which would be translated to "folders are vaccinated"

Turns out to be he meant he vacuums carpets.....

The funny thing is that there's actually Spanish loan words that are now widely used in American English, such as "ranch", which comes from "rancho", and "lasso" from "laso". Then there's words like "tomoto", "coyote", and "chocolate" which are also Spanish loan words which are in turn loan words from the Aztec language Nahuatl.

I can't stand how stupid they sound, they're usually kinda smug for some reason, and many of them seem to feel superior just because they can speak two languages. Sometimes they're humble and good people and it's just me though, I cringe when I hear people talk like that, I can't help it. Those are real words in much of Latin America. "Estacionar" is just a less common synonym to me (but also used, especially in written language). "Alquiler" and "renta" are about the same.

Nah, plenty of Latin Americans worship the RAE in my experience.

For the most part. There's a few things that the RAE accepts that we don't accept, like saying "imprimido" as the participio of "imprimir" (we only say "impreso", as in "he impreso lo que pediste"), but otherwise their word is the word of God.
