Basic income would really be the best solution for wealthy nations because it gives the intelligent and creative people the freedom to work on things while supplicating the dregs.
We don't progress by working shitty jobs to death, making millionaires even richer. It's the scientists, engineers and academics who promote real social and technological change, of which are paid fuck all by comparison to the wealthy people who hire them.

chemist here, you're full of shit lol. Amongst ciences and engineering (which overlap a lot in the job market) getting a decent job is not too hard (unless you take biology or other overinflated course). If anything basic income would increase taxes for us and our activity.
Basic income is only good for permanently-jobless people, like those bafoons in social scienes (and humanities to a lesser degree)
Wanna help sciences? increase scientific funding, especially for the universities needing expensive equipment/materials (i.e chemistry, physics, biology, medicine)
