Even before that. Greeks today are essentially a mixture of several different ethnicities. During the 6th century the Slav zergs exterminated a lot of the native Hellenes in the pellopenseus through war and conflict. The emperor in response exterminated the Slavs that settled and replace the hellenes there. With the land depopulated he invited colonization from southern Italians and anatollians.

In the 12th century Slavs settled in northern Greece and in the 13th century Albanians settled in Epirus and central Greece after being invited by several different powers.

Don't forget the great Arab rape of Greece in the 7-9th centuries.
