If we're just going to consider geography, the Indian subcontinent is much more separated from the rest of Asia compared to Europe. Europe is "separated" from Asia by the Urals, while India is "separated" from Asia by the Himalayas. Barring air travel, it's easier to go from Asia to Europe - you can literally do it in seconds on foot. You can't do that if you're going from Asia to the Indian subcontinent.
