They are one of the few first-world country in Asia. High standard of living thanks to its electronics sector. Very politically liberal and globalist. The only country in the east that actually cares about social justice.

Stayed there for 6 months, great place, lots of QTs. The best China obviously.
I'd say it's a mix of Japan (safe, clean, civilized) and China. Taipei is a great city, but people are really bad with english. Would go again though.
