Happened to me recently. African neighbors who fight constantly, husband came back drunk at 6:30am, wife had waited for him.

They fought for three hours, it was clearly getting physical, the guy screamed "I don't care anymore, I'm going to kill you", and seemed a bit too serious so I called the cops. My bedroom is next to their kids bedroom, so I could hear the poor kids crying and asking their parents to stop.

When the cops arrived the wife had barricaded herself in the bathroom. Then she screamed at the cops, saying it was none of their business, that there was no problem, that whoever called them was crazy.

When I came back home in late afternooon I saw the four kids playing outside, it was starting to get dark, was cold as fuck, and no parents was anywhere around. And this is Paris, so it can be dangerous.

So I invited them inside, gave them hot chocolate, and that's when I understood what was happening: the parents were loudly fucking and probably had thrown out the kids to fuck in peace. The oldest one, a 12 years old who seems to take care for her siblings most of the time, kept aploigizing.

Now the kids go to my or another neighbor's apartment to do their homework.
