We're not even dependent on it for energy, Chop Suey. We are energy independent by sheer force of nature alone. In addition we have a thriving offshore industry specialised in many fields other than fossil fuels, not to mention the shitloads of fish we export. We also have one of the worlds largest reserves of thorium for future use perhaps the most thrifty and innovative population per capita in the world.

Top kek, far from it. We'll never get back to those beautiful 2007 glory years with oil alone, but we've been given a chance (oil futures up plus pipeline capacity up) to pivot our economy and build up that royalty war chest again.

As long as we stay right wing and entrepreneurial I'm sure we'll find a new way to position ourselves. Funny enough, Alberta is probably the best province for solar and wind energy.
