Not really, i have an old volvo thats worth a couple hundred euros, i replaced the exhaust,tyres and front brakes when i bought it 2 years ago and now im gonna drive it till it stops.
I was suppose to change the belt 4k kilometers ago but the car is not worth the effort.

I usually buy old rustbuckets for like 500 Euro and then drive them for 2-3 years years until they start falling apart (sometimes literally) because I can't be arsed to waste time and money cleaning and checking fluids and having it reapaired.
