Pretty sure you can search in the archive and save it, wasn't too long ago i think, maybe 2-3 months.
I consider that cheating tho, only fresh flags which you stumbled upon.

i'm new to this, so basically you save every flag, open the map on paint, open every saved flag on another paint window, copy and paste them on the map? I'd get bored after the first five

I actually just start with a blank map. Then, when I see a flag I do not have yet, I click on it, and it opens a new tab. I right-click, then select "Copy" from the drop-down menu. Then I go back to the map, fill in the country with green on the map, and paste the flag roughly in the center of the country.
