I have this map saved (and posted several times before) from 2013 using data from statcounter.

One could get more recent data from there, but how would you make such maps? Is there some chart option for Excel/Libreoffice?

I'm a proponent of Linux, but WINE is absolute shit.
Only way to run everything is to emulate the OS, and even that has it's limitations. not to mention the performance loss.
Microsoft recently joined the Linux Foundation though. So hopefully in the future Linux will have more cross-compatibility with Windows.

>Windows 10

I’d just like to interject for a moment. What you’re refering to as Windows, is in fact, NSA/Windows, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, NSA plus Windows. Windows is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another locked down component of a fully functioning NSA system made useful by the NSA corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by the government.
Many computer users run a modified version of the NSA system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of NSA which is widely used today is often called “Windows”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the NSA system, developed by the NSA.
There really is a Windows, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Windows is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Windows is normally used in combination with the NSA operating system: the whole system is basically NSA with Windows added, or NSA/Windows. All the so-called “Windows” versions are really versions of NSA/Windows.

I haven't had any issues with https://www.playonlinux.com/en/

If you want nearly 100% performance just use a windows VM with pci-passthrough, as mentioned earlier.

If you don't like it then don't use it, i don't give a shit. It fulfills my needs perfectly and I am very happy with Arch Gnu/Linux

This is deceiving. Not all games are supported, and from the ones that are supported, not all of them behave as expected. Newer games (especially DX10/11/12 games) don't run that well/at all, no matter how you tweak them in Wine.

True but it's a step in the right direction.

Point is that there's many options these days.

1) Wine/PlayOnLinux

2) Run it in a VM

3) Play any of the 6 trillion games on steam

4) Grow out of being a manchild and get some real hobbies that don't include wasting your time playing childrens' games when real life is a lot more dynamic of a game

There's nothing wrong with videogames, and the two aren't mutually exclusive. If you exclude videogames from your hobbies on the argument that it doesn't affect anything in real life, then you'd have to exclude movies and novels, and virtually all entertainment.
>>
>>67804763
Sure, but that has nothing to do with Wine or PlayOnLinux. Also, I just integrated graphics cause Linux has great Intel drivers.

I want to have my games working with mod support, stuff to work with Japanese locale and RPGmaker and not have the necessity to fix graphic glitches when DOTA2 updates. Also Discord still doesn't have a Linux version and it doesn't matter that there are alternative programs since my friends aren't switching back to Mumble or TS.

Many of which - at least most of the popular ones.

>If you exclude videogames from your hobbies on the argument that it doesn't affect anything in real life, then you'd have to exclude movies and novels, and virtually all entertainment.

This is a common argument, but what you're not considering is the inherent time-wasting nature of videogaymes.

The most popular of videogaymes have an inherent timesink component, that is to say that you MUST invest a given amount of time to get anywhere within the game.

Games (most popular - by number of players) such as CS:GO, LoL, Dota, WoW, Runescape and some more REQUIRE a given number of hours to be invested and are even designed in this manner.

It's near impossible to play "casually" at any of these games because you will be so terrible it would require 10 years of gameplay to reach a mediocre level where you're not dying (in the case of fpses or mobas) or not even at levelcap on one character (in the case of mmos).

Unless we're talking singleplayer games of course, the most popular online games simply command a high time investment.

Other hobbies do not have the same implication. You do not have to invest 20+ hours a week to maintain your "level" of watching TV, or jacking off to porn or reading magazines. The lie of "i just play casually" is a lie to oneself, first and foremost.

Games aren't anything special in this regard. If you don't do daily quests in WoW or keep up ranking in CS:Go it's going to be detrimental to your progress, but it won't stop you from playing or anything. Similarly not reading a book for a while doesn't prevent you finishing it entirely, but you probably forget details from the plot if you stop reading for a while.
>>
>>67805179
happened a lot years ago

in any case, the entire point of these comics is to piss off archfags

and it works every time
>>
>>67804966
>the inherent time-wasting nature of videogaymes
Well if it doesn't have any utility in the real world anyway, then any form of entertainment is a waste of time by that criterion. So, in the amount of time it takes to complete one singleplayer game, you can watch ten movies. But, in the amount of time it takes to watch one movie, I can dribble a basketball a thousand times. Is dribbling by this line of reason generally a better form of entertainment than movies or games? I don't see how any of this matters if you enjoy yourself while spending your leisure time. The purpose of leisure is just to enjoy yourself.
>>
>>67805188
>If you don't do daily quests in WoW or keep up ranking in CS:Go it's going to be detrimental to your progress, but it won't stop you from playing or anything

Kind of does, though.

In WoW you won't be able to do a lot of things (until you hit levelcap and you're just raidlogging), especially when you play multiple characters. For Arenas it will be hard to stay on point.

For FPS and MOBAs it's even worse. You have to keep playing in order to keep your mechanics up. If you play 5 hours a week your skill will go down significantly - you'll get frustrated because you lost rating/suck dick so bad and it will be hard to keep playing.

>Similarly not reading a book for a while doesn't prevent you finishing it entirely, but you probably forget details from the plot if you stop reading for a while.

Not in the same manner though.

Cs/LoL/Dota require you to be quite involved in order to actually manage to play the game properly (going 0/20 and making everyone rage at you is no fun ofc)

WoW doesn't force you to play arena and CS/LoL/Dota don't force you to climb up in rank - the matchmaking is there for a reason. Most people who play dota just play all pick every now and then instead of doing ranked Captain's mode at least three hours a day.
>>
>>67805422
>WoW doesn't force you to play arena

raids and shit tho

If you play casually enjoy literally taking 2 years to hit levelcap on one character

>CS/LoL/Dota don't force you to climb up in rank - the matchmaking is there for a reason.

True, but it DOES require a certain level of game knowledge/skill.

in lol/dota - knowledge of characters, their abilities, game strategies, patch changes, et cetera. You require a certain level of knowledge even at the lowest of levels, in order to not literally run around and die.

In FPSes - you need knowledge of maps and practice in reaction speed
