Of those 16 millions guatemalans a fuckton dont pay taxes. Besides Costa Rican economy relies a lot in tourism and foreign investments. Our industry is slightly bigger than yours and we have more wealthy people, including the only central american billionare. Ofcourse Guatemala is unequal as fuck and das bad boi
>>
>>67792968
>tourism

No, it doesnt, actually the sector is on """crisis""" since the 80's. Just because a lot of people comes here it doesnt mean its important for our economy. Its important for small towns forgotten by the central government, nobody can denies that, while the economy of the country would be affected if the whole tourism sector disappears tomorrow, a lot of small towns would get completely fucked.

>foreign investments

Again, false, like people believing that CR is still an "agricultural" country when the sector doesnt even represents a 1% of our economy.

I dont even see what any of this has anything to do with the economy of Guatemala being so underdeveloped and poor, being less than half of efficient than Panamá or Costa Rica's and being slightly bigger having more than 4 times the populations of said countries.

>Just because a lot of people comes here it doesnt mean its important for our economy.

>In 2012 tourism contributed with 12.5% of the country's GDP and it was responsible for 11.7% of direct and indirect employment.[8] In 2009 tourism attracted 17% of foreign direct investment inflows, and 13% in average between 2000 and 2009.[9] In 2010 the tourism industry was responsible for 21.2% of foreign exchange generated by all exports.[10] According to a 2007 report by ECLAC, tourism contributed to a reduction in poverty of 3% in the country.

>So has it really changed that much in 2016

You see, to keep loans with low interest rates, the tourism sector started saying that every foreigner who enters the country is a tourist, it doesnt matter if it is a Panamanian who comes to CR two times every week, they said he was a tourist. Their plan was to use the money to build hotels and attractions, thinking this would attract tourists, but it never happened. Because of this, they are still in crisis.

Also, there are more than 700 000 """"""""tourist""""" from Nicaragua, Venezuela, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Haití, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and others at every moment in CR, of course, they just used a tourism visa to get here and never leave, or at least leave way after they visa allows them.

Tourism in CR is literally a meme.

>source

http://www.nacion.com/economia/empresarial/Intel-oficialmente-manufactura-Costa-Rica_0_1407259442.html

It was the meme news all over the world

>b-but they represent most of CR exports
>b-but they are getting fucked
>nothing happened

Could it be that said foreign companies come to CR because they dont have taxes and the little benefit the country gets is that they hire people that the government now can tax?

Actually, because of them leaving, a lot of their ex employees started new companies, Costa Rican companies that the government can tax so we are actually getting more money now.

>he fell for the """"""""""foreign""""""""" """""""""investment""""""" meme

Whites are the biggest racial group of CR, 47% of the population is White.
The next biggest racial group would be Blacks, 11% of the population.
Asians are 9%.
Amerindians are 5%.

The 28% left is the Mixed populations (9% Mulatos, 11% Mestizos, 8% different mixes)

What makes CR diverse besides the race is the culture of the different regions, race is irrelevant but the cultural differences makes everybody butthurt and everybody tries to play the special snowflake part.

Btw, the same link I posted about INTEL leaving says how at the top of its importance INTEL made up 6% of our GDP, including related economic activities to the company. How the fuck can you believe that it would represent 25% of our GDP?

Chinese migration has always been important here, desu. But to be fair, I would say that less than half are Costa Ricans who have been here since 200 years ago and the rest are Chinese migrants and first generations.

The government had to start restrictions on Chinese migrants in 2009 because lots of them were coming. They are alright too, but they build their cheap and ugly buildings everywhere

You are not even nearly close to being as diverse as us. There are regions here where people don't know spanish, dress daily in traditional clothes, have mayan religion and have their own laws. It's like their own world. This type of shit is bad for the economy, they refuse to be part of it.

>>67796187
Cool, a friend of mine told me they are doing this at their university too. It would be the first thing we own in guatemala to be in space. Those cubes are expensive as fuck.

>>67796658

I meant to say that it is not only the first in Costa Rica, but also the first in Central America. Not that the satellite was central america in that sense.
>>
>>67796819
Everybody and their mum has multiple satellites, tho, your country too, and obviously companies. The meme here is that it was designed here and is being built here. Besides that, it doesnt have anything special besides that.
