No guide, you simply have to take the plunge.
I simply looked for an appartment in the city where my new university was and went.
Anything you need to know you'll learn along the way. Basic fiscal responsability, discipline and watching your own mental health will be the skills you'll need most of all.
When I just moved out it was easy to get depressed: not go to class, hardly come outside , you'll need to be vigilant not to let the same happen.
Make sure you have other activities than uni/your job (sports=good) and make sure you don't live above your means.
There will be fuck ups, you will make mistakes, but that's inherent to any learning experience

Jews are the wealthiest, most successful ethnic group in the US. It's one of the reasons NYC is so expensive and is the seat of media and banking in the US. They've got their shit together.

I just hate hearing them whine about their victimhood so much. Zeroth World Problems.

>10%

So what, I'll have $1000 saved after 70 years?

http://wallstreetplayboys.com/savings-rates-are-worthless-and-what-real-net-worth-is/

That's not what this guy says.

1) Saving 10% is a Scam: The general rule of thumb is to save 10% of what you earn. What they don’t tell you is this sets you up for a very long and dire path to mediocrity. The math doesn’t help you because you’re constantly increasing your annual spending in the 10% scenario. Lets look at the simple math.

Joe makes $90K per year. To make the math simple lets say he sees a take home pay of $60K. This means he would save $6K a year. He is going to see a wage increase of 10% per year and he will continue to save 10% of his income. This sounds logical until you put the numbers into a spreadsheet.

In Year 1, he will save $6K… fast forward to year 10 and that $6K is just 4.3% of his annual spending habits.

Our readers are smart so everyone can see the problem with a fixed percentage savings method. The fixed saving percentage makes every *prior* year less meaningful because it accounts for a smaller and smaller percentage of your new standard of living.

If joe was making $60K and gets a 10% raise each year he is now making, ~$155K. If he is spending 90% of that income, his annual spending is now $140K… the original $6K is just 4.3% of his annual spending habits.

>>
>>67755789
This is going to sound strange, but even though I'd like to save up money for the future, I'm scared that doing that will turn me into an Uncle Scrooge, that is my goal in life will become accumulating money without ever spending it for things I like that would improve my living conditions.
I guess I have to come up with a balanced plan and stick to it.
>>
>>67755933
where'd you move and how'd you afford it?

>inb4 I have a job

Dont care. At 19, no job can pay enough for rent. (or maybe thats just in sydney?)

What degree did you take that made you so unemployable straight out of uni?
>>
>>67756282
>that is my goal in life will become accumulating money without ever spending it for things I like that would improve my living conditions.

I think it has more to do with getting to a financial position in life where you can afford to spend liberally. When you take compounding into account a single dollar spent today is many more 10 years from now so I guess it just makes you think about it more.

I guess you just need to do more cost benefit analysis to determine if things you want to buy really do have a high value.

Because Shit Happens and relying on credit cards to deal with unexpected shit is the road to ruin.

10% is the least, but you're just starting out so that's the best I'd expect - especially in New York City.

Feels good, spoiled almost.

Feels nice to think "Okay i'm going to invest my entire next 5 paychecks into [meme stock]" without thinking about anything else.
>>
24 and back living at home after completing both an MSc and BSc. Got my degrees in a meme field, and while I could probably get onto some general graduate scheme if I applied myself, the thought of working in a field like marketing, sales, recruitment etc makes me want to kill myself. So I'm just working as a barman until I figure my shit out. Even though it's comfy living at home, paying no rent, and getting everything provided for me, I really want to move out because there's literally zero hope of me becoming a normie again while I'm at home. My problem is I genuinely can't think of any job that I'd actually enjoy doing and that I could realistically be qualified without completely re-training.

In a bit of a quandary desu.

I know that feel bro.tar.bz2

On the one hand saving all that money is so nice, but on the other you're wasting your best years cucked by your parents. Really makes me feel.
>>
>>67756455
>>67756480
Yes, I understand that. 10% isn't even that much, I'm willing to save up even more.
My point is, if I end up going full jew for, say, 20 years, that will probably change my mindset to the point where I'll only care about building up an ever growing pile of money without any idea about what to do with it.
But I guess I'm overthinking it.
>>

No reason to move out unless you get a gf or your parents suck
>>
>>67756634
I'm currently doing my BSc and that's my biggest fear. Having no purpose when I'm done studying and just be at the same point as 5 years ago.

>>
>>67756779
>or your parents suck

Who's parents don't suck unironically though?

Pretty sure that's the case with 99% of people. I think it's just something about living with people from a different generation, especially as their child that kind of does it.

>>67756758
>My point is, if I end up going full jew for, say, 20 years, that will probably change my mindset to the point where I'll only care about building up an ever growing pile of money without any idea about what to do with it.

I guess?

Reminds me of some quote by some deadfag, something about Jewing hard but dying with $0.
>>
>>67756433
I was supposed to do a year abroad on a Politics and International Relations degree, but didn't because the papers got fucked up (thanks Chinese Communists), and it fucked up my longer term plan, because I want to be a teacher, but couldn't find a voluntary place at a school to do it because it was too short notice (takes between one and two months for a DBS check and schools don't like spending the money without a full commitment). So that is what I am doing at the moment. I work at a McDonalds (40+ hours a week) and do voluntary work in a school (average one day a week, but I did 1 full day and 2 half days this week). Submitted my teacher training application already, so now it is just the waiting game for me to see if I get an offer.
>>
>>67756779
Well you'll never get a gf if you're 26 and living with your parents.
>>
>>67756728
I think (hope) that the best years for a guy are between 26 and 30, so I still have some time yet. If I'm in a good job and have moved out of my folk's place by then then I can still have lots of fun at that age, but it's looking more and more unlikely with every month that passes and I'm just moving sideways.

>>67756783
I don't know how it works in krautland, but here having a degree does give you some benefit in that it makes you eligible for graduate schemes. On the other hand these are competitive as fuck and are often based in London and offer a salary of £20k (i.e. sustenance wage), so unless you go to a good uni and get a good degree, you were probably better off avoiding the debt and getting a trade apprenticeship or something like that.
>>
>>67756836
My parents are only 16 years older than me, I get one with them very well.
>>
>>67756929
>I get one with them

>>
>>67756842
Man that sucks.
I graduated a year ago with a Computing degree but they put me on ESA because I kept vomiting due to severe agoraphobia.
I just do dog walking now with my support worker.

Well I just think it's draining man.

I know that feel tho. It think it's just the priceless experiences you get that are worth more than any amount of money you squirrel away in your 20's.

It probably also even has something to do with getting more motivation and workethic. I wish I didn't fall for the meme earlier. Ah well, hindsight is 20-20 as they say, only way to look is forward etc etc.

I'm working on web development in the hope I can get a stay-at-home job at the moment.
