They stopped using real newspaper 20 years ago. Some places like in OPS pic use fake newspaper for the old charm

I've actually tried that combo recently for the first time. It actually goes quite well. What kind of fish is it, usually?
I tried both catfish and hake (?).

Cod mainly...or Haddock if youre packing the pounds

Yes, please.
Would you recommend a stout or a bitter to go with? Something else?
>>67672735
deep fried fish is literally abomination lad

>Haddock
That might have been it, not Hake. I can never reliably translate fish names.
>Cod
Not much unsalted cod here. Also there's better uses than frying it.
Catfish with some pepper and fries is GOAT, though. I'm surprised we eat so much fish here and never really added fries to it.

I like mine with a lager.

Outstanding!
(being a yank, I'm not allowed to say "Cheers, mate", right?

enjoy, lad
Love Fish n' chips, but it's hard to find good ones in the states. They often either use frozen fish (slimy/soggy fish), or they don't have the oil hot enough (greasy).
Places that do good F&C are known for it and have enough turnover to use fresh fish and fry them right.

>Cheers, mate
"Cheers, bud" or just "cheers" will do.
