Why don't Europeans interact in public? Are they too shy?

why indians fear toilets?

In was in a plane two days ago, and two separate Americans clapped when we landed.
I thought it was a fucking meme, but they clapped!!

I traveled from Europe to Europe several times, people always clap.

I have never had this happen and I've flown to the USA and back a few times.
All Euros are autistic.

Why should we? Literally what is the point, i go around minding my own business like everyone else, i don't need to talk to people and i don't want anybody to talk to me, thankfully most others think the same way, so we never interact.
Call me autistic, but why? Not sure how it's like in North America, but I don't see any good reason for why you'd just "interact" with people in public past the bare minimum.
Is it normal to just say "hello" and "good day" to random people you pass by on the street and expect them to reply?
So you strike up a conversation with a complete stranger, so what are you going to say?
"Nice day eh?"
"So, how you doin?"
Or some other generic question?
We all know the fucking answers already, and they are a lie.
Who in their right mind are going to answer truthfully with, "Not too good, couldnt find my left shoe, so i missed the first bus."
No, you're going to get the socially standardized "Thanks, just fine." or some other shit.
Might as well save your breath and not waste anyones time.

But we do.
I like talking to old people in the bus or at a busstop.
Russian usually stand at arm's length at the bus stop. So you feel the smell of women's perfume and fume from the men.
Europeans (or swedes for that matter) aren't shy. We're just not socially invasive.
It is totally unnecessary to force interaction, however, a "good morning" is a sign of education, especially when the person is old.

Also, when a girl flirts, will you talk to her or just keep eye contact?
