Let's have a look at some of the previous "superpowers" of their time:
Soviet Union: Tens of millions of people killed, mostly of their own people, spreading one of the worst ideologies known to man and sponsoring several destructive wars in the process, and targeting the disabled/weak, among others.
The British Empire: Invaded 90% of the countries on Earth and conquered 25% of the world, killed off tens of millions of people primarily in South Asia, smallpox blankets, purposely created famines in Ireland and Bangladesh, forcibly sold opium to China, etc.
French Empire: Similar to the British, except most atrocities were committed in Africa and Europe
Ottoman Empire: Armenian genocide, imported millions of slaves from Europe and Africa, etc
Mongol Empire: Literally created the Black Death, raided and destroyed thousands of cities/towns, killed off 45 million people in an era where nukes and guns didn't even exist, etc.
The Caliphates: Enslaved Africans and Europeans, conquered and plundered whilst spreading Islam in the process, etc.
Obviously, I skipped a lot, but as you can see, the United States is a relatively benign superpower. You should thank us.

No, China hasn't used it's intelligence agencies to instigate coups in our region

Yes, of course

You may not like to admit it, and certainly a lot of other people do not, but the world is a heck of a lot more peaceful when we're in charge.
If the United States disappears tomorrow (negating the disastrous economic and political effects) the world would probably plunge into a third world war tomorrow.
The world needs us to keep other powers such as China and Russia in check. We bring order to an increasingly chaotic world.
To add on to the OP, the U.S is the only superpower in human history to not have an empire.
Sure, we may have some worthless islands as territories, but those are worthless.
Our country does not rely on invading and conquering for prosperity. We are self-sufficient economically speaking.
Even though we could technically build an empire, we choose not to.
Simultaneously, we offer countries like Canada and Japan unconditional protection at a loss.
Fuck... we really are great.
