Simply Lithuanians were minority in the Grand Duchy, at it's biggest extent only around 10%. Lithuanians in Lithuania spoke Lithuanian and outside of it, Ruthenians spoke their languages. There was no "Ruthenization" (not sure the word even exists). There was only Polonization, where Lithuanian nobility in Lithuanian Proper started speaking Polish and lots of people had Polish/Polonized last names (because pre-Christian Lithuanians didn't have last names, it's why you see such Polish-looking suffixes today). It is true that the documents were in Polish and Ruthenian, among Latin and German.
