I've driven from El Paso to Texarkana quite a few times. Only once did I deviate from my usual route and head down through Houston and New Orleans.

El Paso is rather odd too though, and I'm sure it's a far cry from where you live. I've never seen a place so dusty, where even a street off the main road can look... empty. I'm sure it would be a fun place to live if you liked trophy trucks though.
