I've no drive to learn the language because I get l i t e r a l l y nothing from it, we have barely on books in Irish and all the books I read are in English, we have no (good) TV shows in Irish, most of the people in Irish societies seem like wankers I wouldn't want to talk to anyway and the government is shite at incentivizing people to learn it as well

Sure, Irish history may be interesting when compared to 3rd world nations - that I will concede. But compared to our European neighbours it's a bit dreary. They were were off forging empires, fighting wars, and shaping the world. Meanwhile we were under the control of our neighbour for almost 800 years and didn't really do much of significance.

a history of struggle is interesting, what are you on about
the only gripe I have is that it wasn't more well documented

>Meanwhile we were under the control of our neighbour for almost 800 years and didn't really do much of significance.
define significance
the shitty /int/ definition involving muh relevancy?

>I fail to see how.
You said Ireland's history only became interesting in the 19th century and then said the previous 600 weren't because they were supposedly just involved failed rebellions and emigration
When that's probably what the 19th century is most significant for along with the late 18th, where you have massive emigration to the New World, the Fenians, Young Irelanders, United Irishmen, etc.
Why would you find Parliamentarianism, Parnellism, the struggle of ideology and all that shite more interesting than the Nine Years War, the Cogadh an Dá Rí, the Normans in Ireland
surely the 19th century is the most dreary period of our history

I like my historical struggles to have a few victories along the way. Ireland's important victories came all in one go in the 20th century.

>You said Ireland's history only became interesting in the 19th century and then said the previous 600 weren't because they were supposedly just involved failed rebellions and emigration
I explicitly said that things started to get interesting in the LATE 19th century. I'm willing to revise that up to the 20th century if it's such a point of contention for you though.

I'm not denying that, but the few victories that were achieved were the ones that had significant impact. Also, 1916 could be considered a victory if you're willing to buy into the theory that the ultimate goals of the leaders were achieved regarding the reaction of the Irish populace.

way to disregard all the struggle that worked up to that point in the 18th and 19th centuries
nothing of the sort would've been possible without emancipations gained during those centuries by people like O'Connell and Parnell

>I explicitly said that things started to get interesting in the LATE 19th century.
When there was still massive emigration

>I'm willing to revise that up to the 20th century if it's such a point of contention for you though.
And a failed rebellion in 1916

I see what you mean though, I just don't find that period more interesting, ironically since you hear about it the most

In saying that I wasn't that those were the main reasons that those centuries were dreary (although they certainly did contribute). It's just that there wasn't much else of note going on in Ireland from an interesting historical perspective (for me). While immigration continued well past the 19th century, other interesting stuff started to happen from that point onwards that alleviated the dreariness.

talking to the West Brit again

>Well with subjective and relative (perhaps not even relative) values one can say whatever the fuck you want to about 1916, terrorism or glorious uprising, but the state did not come about as a direct result of the rising, indirect: maybe, perhaps had it not happened the Irish state would be entirely different in ways better or worse but it was hardly direct. If Ireland was in such a political climate such that the Easter Rising would have taken place then independence was inevitable.

>So anyway, you justify propaganda because it's only intended to be displayed in the country it produced in.

>That's exactly what propaganda means...

>I could say the same thing about Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, Soviet Russia, Modern China, eastern European Puppet states of the cold war...

>Propaganda is meant to distort your view of reality, and if you believe that the Easter rising directly resulted in the founding of the Irish republic then you've had your view of reality distorted, if only slightly.

>Worse still is admitting that it exists and justifying it.

>Anyway, gotta love Anglican culture with it's civilization, language, customs. You only hate it because the propaganda told you to. They could be imperial assholes sometimes but if you consider how Ireland was before the plantations and that. The process itself was unjustifiable but had it not taken place then Ireland would be regarded to a lower standard than even that of the Russians at the time.

Then you read up on history and how they weren't all so great and 1916 would have never happened and how most just wanted a home rule within the world's most powerful empire

Then you see the leftist shit in the IRA, then you realise how mismanaged this country was for about 60 years

Next thing you're a hardliners unionist, kind of like the evolution Connor cruise o brien went through

Well, English is already at the top.

A truth orangeutangs don't like is that they don't get on with the English or even the Scottish.
The protest-too-much Protestantism and "loyalism" are done as much as a compensating measure against their feelings of inferiority to the English. They're a relic of a bygone era of a religious-political fad within England; the useful idiots, fanatics and hopeless cases that Cromwell and the Tudors wanted as much away from them as the Irish.

I know that the last criticism in particular doesn't apply exclusively to Unionists (most Remain voters were not Unionists, but far from all), but these ares some of the reasons why Britain might hate the North. Now, obviously, Irish nationalists don't care about this hate. But Unionists do. And that's why it's so beautiful.

Leftist republicanism being the same as "Irish nationalism" is a meme made up by these selfsame lefties (the originals being West Brit Protestant Whigs or straight-up English colonists).
It's a meme the Unionists exploited 100% as well to put people in fear of a French-style and then a Russian-style self-destructive "revolution".
And now the modern globalist left use it and its followers as "proof" that Irish nationalism is an inherently "anti-racist", "anti-sectarian", "inclusive".

It's the same as calling someone a Commie in the US back in the 1970s, you can dismiss arguments with it if you want.

I hate hearing about them because as well as being typical suffragette cunts, having women in a paramilitary movement is a very dishonourable thing. It's like hitting a women hitting a man when she knows he can't hit back, except it's murder instead of assault.
It also allows the enemy, if they are so inclined, to portray all violence they commit against women as "blurred lines", which is bullshit.

That English feminist-socialist countess shot an unarmed Catholic policeman to death because of her delusions of grandeur. Even if she wasn't so politically trashy, I would find that disgusting.

Letting socialists and feminists into Irish "nationalism" is what poisoned the well far more than anything else.

I said feminism and socialism were shit.

Me and someone else told him he should make an argument.

Eventually he referenced the proclamation's support of relative egalitarianism and democratism as if the argument was about what the 1916 people believed, and not what the argument was actually about, which is whether socialism and feminism are positive elements in Irish nationalism.

Sorry m8 but I'm not a fountain of stats able to bring them up for every shitpost.

>inb4 that disqualifies my argument entirely

If there are stats that show women being consistent right-wing voters and not being the decisive factor for how such abysmally destructive sexual-revolution policies that encourage childlessness, single-motherhood, divorce, etc got introduced and are sustained, then I'd be glad to take those into account, but I haven't seen that.

A quick google search brings up a fair few things like this one though, so if you want to analyse the sources and statistics directly, google will be a better thing to interrogate than me, some guy with a non-photographic memory.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2013/mar/05/women-left-of-men-historic-shift

>Labour's lead over the Conservatives among women has now hit 26%

https://www.researchgate.net/publication/24091794_Why_Have_Women_Become_Left-Wing_The_Political_Gender_Gap_and_the_Decline_in_Marriage

The thing about Trump is that the election was ironically a race thing. Plus the white women only voted "right" in a slim majority, and still 11% less for Trump than white men did.
There are also other stats that matter, like voter turnout (how many left-wing women didn't show up?), but I'm not a statistics nerd so I can't say anything more about that.

US presidential elections aren't the best way of dividing "left-wing" from "right-wing" anyway, since you only really get two choices, it's not clear-cut on which issues people vote for, and normies are probably more concerned about the vague and general statements about "improving the economy" than deeper social questions.

Yes. That's always been the inherent hypocrisy of niceguys, hence why they became a meme.

Hats in general are a bit too "old fashioned" at this point.

Honestly I think the "watershed" moment will be when men can wear any kind of formal wear that isn't a suit and get away with it.
Particularly if that formal wear doesn't have trousers, and has bright colours.
Ironically, IIRC, modern formal wear style derives a lot of influence from the "bling" of Croatian and Albanian bandits/mercenaries, who like other mercenaries, tended towards colourfulness.

If you look at the military uniforms since WW1, they've been ugly, drab things. Somehow the Nazis managed to make them look different, and better, but if you look at the modern German "dress uniform" it's just a grey suit with more pockets and broad shoulders.

Why even bother having a dress uniform if you're going to make it ugly and plain?
Perhaps because modern combat uniform looks like pajamas with ugly sofa patterns on it, but what can you do?

>>67385613
Eh, if you're who I think you are you usually elaborate when pressed, and there's a subtle difference in the posting style besides that.

Have they really though? Yeah, there are tons on youtube and so on, but they're not only "acceptable" ideologies, but the ruling ones, so the dynamic really isn't the same as the "underground", almost hipster-like politics of the right wing.

What? The government that encourages foreign investment and international companies to move here creating jobs?

Or those big businesses themselves that moved here? Creating jobs.
