Answer your question many Americans are very adversarial to the concept of taxes and infrastructure development and paying for said infrastructure with taxes.
That's why places that boom up fall part because no one bothers to develop the boom towns to fallback on something when the money goes down.

The United States is built upon immigrants. In the late nineteenth century and early twentieth, there were several large waves of arrivals from China, Italy, Ireland, Poland, and other swathes of Eastern and Southern Europe. In the late 1900s, the tend has been more towards Arabs, Indians, and an assortment of Asians.
Indians in the United States tend to be significantly more successful than the average American. That is not because Indians are necessarily more intelligent or because they're fantastic innovators. Rather, there is a ton of competition in Indian universities and job searches for Western-based jobs. With a large population of skilled and experienced workers all competing for the same slice of the pie, only the most qualified and educated members of the middle- and upper-middle-class get to go to the United States on H1B visas.
Indians are successful in the United States because they're among the best of the best from their own country. They're just another minority, albeit a recent addition and one that's done a good job of integrating their children with the locals while still retaining strong cultural ties to their homeland.
Your reaction is as senseless as being shocked that a large pizzeria is owned by an Italian or that a Chinese man owns a string of cheap grocery stores in LA.

Many come to Canada and the U.S with not much to their names though and still thrive despite many being poor as fuck on arrival. Asians that are upper middle class are just paraded around.
