Middle of fucking nowhere. Perfect for testing experimental aircraft and other relevant technology. It's an air force base with top secret designation.

I've heard stories passed from family friends with relations to those who work at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio. One such story was from an engineer.

The engineer would be away from home for weeks to months on end working on projects requiring various clearance levels. One day the upper brass told him to pack his shit for another such trip but without the typical debriefing. He and about two dozen other staff were loaded into a plane with no windows and flown to bumfuck nowhere.

Or at least, he knows it was bumfuck nowhere because once he stepped off of the plane he was in the desert and was without any direction to this point. He and the other staff were given instructions to work in various workshops on a project later exposed to be the F-117 Nighthawk. Or at least he presumes it to be given the timeframe, apparent location, the identifiably unique appearance of the Nighthawk, etc.

Then when they were done they were loaded into another such aircraft with no windows and brought home again without knowing where they really were.

To be taken with a grain of salt, of course.

the army tests all their weird prototypes there. They tried to basically make circular aircraft for some reason I can't remember, but the prototypes spurred the ayy lmao rumors. It probably resulted in the Nighthawk though and other absurd technology we have
