Best skyline in Europe edition

Contributing with a very old city.
>>67068585
But that's not Paris
>>67072202
paris doesn't have any cool dominant skyscraper
>>67073016
I'd say the Tour First is a pretty definite centerpiece, though I don't actually see Paris as the better skyline.
I think of them both as pretty even. It all depends on which grows faster the coming decades.

comfy city

Thank you, but it's rather a village. It has no city rights.

>the tallest one isn't even 300m
boooooring
I like these threads but hate the "skyline" "editions"
>>67074152
w-well, with the antenna it technically is
Continents for Skylines:

and with a plastic sleeve my dick is 20cm
doesn't count
Frankfurt needs a supertall
>>67074373
this. skylines are uglies as fuck, too
>>67073016
I still think its objectively the best skyline shot in Europe.
Not only that but Frankfurts district is just a standard boring shit. La Defence is a proper complex and area. As someone who has walked around both there is no real contest for me.
Also now Hermitage has been confirmed afaik for 2017 start this will give Paris the tallest stuff.
>>67074373
True, but hey I prefer my cities without skyscrapers anyway
>>67074604
I also really rate London as up and coming. Its pretty nice looking from the Thames in Person especially when walking east to west.
London should have 5 more 200+ buildings completed by 2020 which basically doubles the amount of buildings in that category. It will also complete 13 above 150 in that time which again double that total.
So London is really booming in taller structures.
>>67074851
I wish I could steal some of your buildings and place it in Rotterdam;-)
>>67074604
this boxy gate is simply autistic though
also all La Defense skyscrapers are of roughly the same height
>>67068585
>Modernist glass and metal boxes
Into the trash it goes
Old skylines are underrated skylines. Anyone can throw money out of the window for some glass boxes.
>>67075659
>he doesn't like modernism
>>67075672
Also skylines made especially little sense in the USA where property prices are nowhere near high enough to warrant such tall buildings and many-million dollar highrises alternate with fucking parking lots downtown. It's all dickwaving.
>>67075754

>Anyone can throw money out of the window for some glass boxes.
technically anyone can throw money out for some old looking buildings aswell, you know hte buildings on your picture are all reconstructed therefore "fake" ?
anyway I really like Dresden
>>67075898
pisałeś kiedyś w /urban/? nie pamietam cie
>>67075910
There's a difference between accurately rebuilding historic buildings with as many reuseable materials as possible and building something brand new that's made to look like it's historic, like this piece of shit that's not even 100 years old.

b-but latinas look like arabs
>>67076303
Like catholic arabs
I feel a bit of pity because these threads never contain any productive discussion, they're always just photo dumps. If we're too unqualified to discuss architecture on a deeper level than posting subjective aesthetic opinions, the least we can do is discuss key points of urban planning, for example where you see the advantages and disadvantages of road based versus rail based public transport, which is also an interesting question in regards to long distance public transport with all these charter bus lines popping up all over Europe in recent years in competition with established but often criticised rail networks.
>>67076848
>Serious discussion on 4chan
>>67076848
I don't know anything about those topics but it is always interesting.
The best site I have seen where they make actual discussions is: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/forumdisplay.php?f=674
>>67076848
it's /int/, not /n/
>>67077058
I had an account there but I forgot the name.
>>67076848
rail based transport is definitely more convenient, trains are more comfortable than buses
>>67077546
Yes, but there are reasons against them. Their routes take up valuable infrastructural space that can't be allocated to anything else while buses can share lanes with other road vehicles. Also rail transport can't ever diverge from its route, sacrificing flexibility (running different routes at different times of the day for example), and given equal propulsion (electric bus vs electric tram) the rail vehicle will always make greater noise which is a greater annoyance in built up areas.
>>67076848
I like to have serious discussionings, but I keep that on SSC
I'm not that into public transport anyways, despite acknowledging its importance, as cars should be weeded out of city centres
>>67077777
not even wasted
>>67077777
nice autism get, autist
include me in the screencap btw
public transport porn?
>>67077777
What city is that? Looks a lot more dense than American cities.
>>67078018
I like coaches 2bh.
>also my most played Steam game is Euro Truck Simulator 2 and I'm eagerly waiting for a good Fernbus Simulator and Transport Fever sale
>>67078329
It's dense as fuck, endless and there's a volcano on the horizon, what do you think it is?
>>67077699
desu I'm not really a fan of rails as a whole but I certainly appreciate metro
it's just so good, omitting monstrous traffic in large cities
>>67077777
Can you post your best Jap pics? I lost all my folders
>>67080462
>I lost all my folders
lmao, how?
>>67080938
it just happened : ^ )
I also lost my old trip
>>67081097
I noticed, it looks different than it used to
>>67074604
It's pretty good but I like to see a little more height gradation in a skyline height wise. A little copse of skyscrapers among traditional buildings is a sign of compromised city planning.
My city probably has one of the worst skyline for a metropolis in NA.
I guess that's a result of the laws preventing buildings to be too high as to not be taller than the big hill in the middle of the city.
>>67075805
In Chicago's case it was a boomtown from 1833 until 1950. Between 1870 and 1920 the population went from 300,000 to 2.7 million. Then by 1950 there were about 3.6 million residents.
So property in the downtown core was extremely expensive that entire time which warranted building up. Also the Loop is hemmed in by the Lake and rivers.
I guess it's kind of exceptional among other American cities though because its city plan was heavily influenced by Paris.
