Lived in Bulgaria and I can relate. Bulgarians are god-tier people, friendly and like to party, but their cities look like shit.
Macedonia is a lower level though. All your country is basically compouned of trashes and mosques. Skopje is a meme city, with cheap and kitschy monuments paid by the EU and surrounded with gipsy slums
