Chicanos are not an ethnic group unto themselves, but rather another component of Mexican Americans made worse by the shitty regressive culture of California comprising of detestable beings as defined by everyone else.

I have definitely thought of going down to Mexico or any of Latin America, at least for a visit. For one thing my Spanish needs some help, I don't really know how to describe what level it is. I can use it for pretty much anything in daily life and my accent is pretty good but I know my grammar is weak, and my vocab has some weird weak spots too. I feel like the best chance for me to get gud is to just stay there a while. Also imagining the food makes me hnng and also I could probably finally find a really good molcajete to bring home.

Downside though is that Mexican stuff holds no mystery to me...Travelling there I would pretty much know what to expect, good or bad.

What I find most appealing is taking off to a totally different culture for a while, unrelated to both Mexico and the US.

Well, lots of people speak English here too and yet I get spoken to in Spanish regularly, mainly because its the norm in my city for people to speak Spanish. I imagine if I went to a country that is considered to be Spanish-speaking that would happen even more than it does now. Being white works against me here since people usually assume white = not latino/doesn't speak Spanish, so half of the time people just switch to English when they see my face (and I assume this sometimes happens to white latinos living here, too). But if I was just in Mexico doing my thing I think people would probably not assume that so much since the linguistic line isn't so sharply associated with skin color as it is here.
