Is it true most americans don't own a passport?
I have a
Ukrainian
passport.
Yeah. They cost around $80-$150 IIRC, and most Americans don't really ever leave the country.
i would say yea, because it costs a lot of money to travel abroad relative to other countries
also until recently u didnt need a passport to go to canada

I have one but I needed to renew it last year and didn't.
Its true yeah
Travel is expensive as hell if you leave from the US, and the passport itself costs $100~ USD
I went to Belgium last year and it cost $1200, not including hotels, food, etc
I had to send my passport back as the idiots used my mom's photo on my passport.

Nope. It's not like there's a country next door to visit. Mexico is 14 hours away by car. Canada is 11 hours by car. There's no cheap or efficient way to get to either of these places other than just driving yourself.
This isn't like Europe where you can hop on a train and be in another country within an hour.

contrary to, non-abroad countries?

You missed my point with your attempt to be condescending.
Flying to Spain from Sweden is ~5x cheaper than flying to Spain from the East coast of the US. I kno this cause I lived in Italy for a year.
The equivalent to you guys going to the Mediterranean on your vacation would be an American going to Florida, Florida just happens to be domestic for us.
Put it this way, area wise if you transposed my domestic travel to Europe I would have visited pretty much every country on the continent.
