Well at least your argumentation prowess is on par with your countrymen according to PISA.

Only correct way to conduct such research would be to take some income group adjusted PPP and adjusted as the X% of the country.
Even this would have to be done regionally because disparity between social classes in countries is different.
If you took East Coast America 21 year olds from top 3-5% income group you would just get bunch of Ivy League cunts toppling over
the whole world, while in any more socialist (European/Eastern European) country you would get results much lower.

I dont really see a way this research could be done globally and adjusted correctly.

and actually GDP per capita or spending per students just explains between 20-25% of the variance among countries and is way less among developed countries, the OECD has done calculations on how would be the performance of every acountry-economy if they had the same socioeconomic status as the OECD average, and actually the big picture does not change that much

This, even in Australia we have a tonne of schools finding ways to fuck with the results of NAPLAN tests (country-wide stadardised tests for primary/high school students) to make themselves appear better than they really are, for example by advising parents of less intelligent students to stay at home on test days and various other tricks. There is very little chance countries with rampant corruption and a poorly developed bureaucracy would not try to manipulate their results in one way or another. And although I don't have any evidence to back it up, based off the nature of the Chinese government and the attitudes of East Asian (mainly Chinese) students in Australia towards cheating in order to appear the "smartest", I would not be surprised in the slightest if they had meddled with their results somehow.
