To be totally honest I have never played 3. 2 was a let down because the giant Mass Effect universe shrunk down to the size of a frigate. The gameplay was also too streamlined and Gears of War (yes ME1's combat is ass, but it's not generic). I've only beaten it once despite a couple of tries.

When I heard the endings were botched and the dark matter thing was retconned out, I lost all interest.

It's the same bullshit mechanic lots of online games use, it's just a number that you have to get higher for more prestige, but is designed to take an extreme amount of game play to actually increase.

It's the same thing casinos do. The rules are designed to be in their favour, the only way to win is sink an ungodly amount of hours in, or just get lucky and immediately stop playing.

No it's not, the way casinos work is to statistically force you to lose money to them while allowing a few people in the crowd to win big as an attraction to the crowd in the first place.

Ranking systems are supposed to make you lose more if you are higher ranked, every ranking system that works does that. It would be extremely stupid if a guy had to lose dozens of times in a row to lose the same percentage of points as a mid ranked guy losing three times in a row.

Furthermore, ranking is points earned over time through skill. Gambling is money lost over time with statistical anomalies where you try to be that lucky guy by gaming those statistics.

And yes you do get something out of rank, you get a marker of skill. It's no different from tracking your placement at tournaments over time.

FYI if casinos didn't take your money (since you aren't talking about money) then you wouldn't have a legit reason to complain about them.

At least 50km/h in every terrain, works reasonably well even against T-34 with composite rounds.
