This, there is nothing the A-10 can do that either:

a helicopter can't do cheaper with much greater accuracy and longer loiter time.
OR
a fast jet can't do with a much faster response time, greater variety of ordnance and at considerable less risk to the aircraft.

A-10 is a meme, and that's why there's such pressure to keep it around. But that's it, its role as a platform to take out Soviet tanks charging through the fulda gap is long defunct.

Can't the Apache pretty much do the same thing?
