I don't think there would be any difference if the house would be made of bricks.

ah yes german "construction"
>>
>>66703416
It literally would. If a tornado hits your house it will destroy brick nearly as easily. Either way the home is destroyed. Tornado protection is not a reason to build with brick.

Yes, Germany has massive tornados and category 5 hurricanes.
>>
The real reason is that the chances of your house getting hit by a tornado is ridiculously minuscule. The cost of rebuilding a 100 houses a year is cheaper than building every house out of brick. This keeps housing prices down. A brand new wood framed house can be pumped out in like 2 weeks or even less so it doesn't even matter really.

It also gets quite cold in the tornado valley, and wooden houses are better for that. Most Northern European houses are made of wood as well.
>>
>>66704118
why don't you just take the tornado and put it somewhere else
>>
>>66704118
>Most Northern European houses are made of wood as well.
Is this true? this doesnt feel true

Make up your mind what we're talking about.
>>
>>66703770
>slight breezes
F5 tornadoes.
>>
Much of Europe builds with masonry because they don't have a vast continent of wood to use (most of their vast forests were cut down hundreds of year ago), it's cheaper for them to use anything but wood.
>>
>bazillions of americans die in tornado, because their houses are made of carton
>but it's cheap. we can build 10000000000 wooden houses in one hour.
>>
>>66704726
Yes it's true. You can do a search for "house finland" to see what Scandinavian houses look like. They're very similar to American homes.
>>
>>66704841
We're talking about construction you dumb cunt

It's not my fault Americans are too stupid to build proper buildings

Wow you're so smart
>>
>>66703346

There isn't. That's the thing most Yuropoors don't understand about tornadoes.
>>
It's how we can afford McMansions and 4 car garages.

What's your excuse ?
>>
>>66705308
Seriously wtf is that?
>>
>>66705464

Yup. Modern brick houses use curtain wall construction, regardless of where they are built. The tornado tears the roof off, then the walls blow over. Plaster and lath won't change that.
>>
>>66705268
Construction of what you stupid fuck?
Apartment buildings or houses?
More Euros live in apartments than single family houses, and in places like Germany more people rent houses than own them compared to the US so they aren't actually having their own homes built.
>>
>>66705464
Sure it'l change things. Instead of a bunch of plaster and small amounts of wood now you have heavy bricks being thrown around :^)
It's not like houses in Tornado alley are designed as cheap as possible because this a common occurrence.

>>
>>66705554
This.
Houses don't just blow over, their roofs come off exposing the interior to the winds.
How well a house withstands extreme winds is determined by how well the house is all tied together from the roof down the foundation.
>>
>>66703587
Still standing strong after thousand of nukes, america would be flat...
>>
I'm not even a person who does this kind of work but I helped my father as a teen with some "around the house" work and I can literally do 10 times better than that.

I cringed so hard.
>>
>>66705688
You're the one comparing large old German buildings in a city to single family American houses.
>>
>>66702177
It's cheap, effective, you can insulate it easily.
Maybe I'm just being an idiot, but what's the problem here? It looks more like a DIY for someone with a hole in their wall.
>>
>>66705258
hmm... all these wooden houses in Sundsvall Sweden..
>>
>>66702177
>stoning indoors
ahmed pls go outside
>>
>>66703722
Dont build with brick, build in concrete. Most houses here are built with block because we have devastating earthquackes. You can bet a house made of block will withstand some strong winds.
>>
I mean honestly that doesn't look too bad, many house here have plaster-wood walls as well.
>>
>>66708340
Yeah, Northern Europe, Canada, Alaska too.
>>
>>66708418
Yeah idk why people freak out about plaster-wood walls anyway, they are cheap, easy to install and durable enough, unless of course you go around kicking your walls.
>>
>>66707278
he is talking about private single family houses not city buildings.
>>
>>66708092
check some videos of what category 4 and 5 tornadoes do to a concrete building.
>>
>>66708092

This is true. When you have hurricane force or greater winds (tornados) weight and engineering are important. If I lived in Florida I'd build a ranch house of poured concrete with a steel roof.

In the midwest tornadoes are so localized and rare that it doesn't make sense to do that. And so we build stick frame and lots of insulation.

My current house in Ohio is on a broad flat plain. It's all 2x6 and 2x8 construction. We get severe winds here - the furniture blows off of the deck all the time. But the house rarely creaks and we pay low heating bills because of it.

I heat a 2500 sq ft house with propane for $2000 / year, and that includes barbecues and kitchen.
>>
>>66707278
>American CITY buildings, like Swedish CITY buildings, aren't built out of stone, too
>Czech flag
ahh yes, to be expected from someone like you
>>
>>66708548
I think it is because they may look "cheap" but the modern technologies make them pretty durable and provide good insulation in cold climates. Even the most expensive "brick" mansions here are built this way: a wooden frame, drywall, insulation, etc and brick on the outside. So it is more like a fancy siding than anything.

That hole looks like Saudi Arabia kek
