Honestly, it seems to me to just by the typical strategy to divide the people so that they can never get their shit together to oppose the ruling regimes. People of power latch on to previously existing social divsions, and make them way worse (or make them seem way worse through media distortion and exposure). The point of this being that the more pieces you can split all the poor and middle class peasants into, the more scattered their money, political support, and actual physical effort of protesting/actual fire power of revolution will go to, leaving the status quo in power, i.e., "divide and conquer".

In the US, we naturally have a racial divide. The average person is not particularly racist, but people can twist the issue until people who were previously on the fence become influenced to one side or the other. The media chooses to zoom in on racial tensions, and they get blown out of proportion.

In religious countries, the divide is between factions of the religions. See this throughout all countries currently undergoing issues with Muslims. Non-extreme Muslims, Christians, Jews, etc. all exist but they can be easily distorted by the media, and uneducated or mentally unstable people can be pushed to extremes.

In Korea, it looks lke this same tactic is being employed via sexism, since Korea is very racially homogenous, and as far as I know, though they have a Christian population, religion has never been a hugely contenious/violent issue among Koreans. So the easiest way to split the population in half to hobble its power against the establishment and keep the citizens fighting amongst eachother would be via gender.

Conversation Exchange is a great website for finding people. It looks old but it's quite active.

r/korean is generally helpful and they have an IRC where you can find experienced learners and native koreans to help you

Memrise and/or Anki for flashcards.

Good dictionaries for you will be Daum and Naver (Naver is the more popular one but I started out with Daum)

This website will conjugate verbs for you: http://dongsa.net/

There is a website called HowToStudyKorean which has a ton of info but I really hate the way it is writtem the author seems to assume the reader is a retard. But it's a good resource.

It's hard to find good beginner vids completely in Korean (do this for immersion even if you dont understand it at first; you will eventually) so bookmark these:

It can be free to study here in Norway, but you have to apply for some of the scholarships we have. Should be easy enough to get in. Land was around USD 80k and building a good house would have been around USD 100k. My family only had land cuz they went the US and sold the land. I'm not sure how big 1000sq ft is but I used to live in a trailer that was 23ft long and like...idk, a few feet wide, and there was a little garden around it maybe enough to fit 2 pickup trucks if you packed them tightly.

All of those amounts are way beyond my range for now. The most money I've ever had in my life is 11k. Hoping to get a good job a couple years from now though and maybe those numbers won't seem so big. I don't know if those amounts are considered cheap or not because nothing in my life has ever come close to that price.
