Personally I don't like them because my mother who was from the west indies kept boiling them in the soup, and I was disgusted by soup back then so I was automatically disgusted them

That is often the case with food that many people find "icky" because it's not on the mcdonalds menu, it's usually very good.
People shouldn't be so picky, smalahove for example is also very good, but lots of people wont even try it.
