Politicians drove the countries to hell and are surprised when the citizens make radical uninformed decisions out of anger and despair.

The elite got what was coming to them but the "victories" in both cases are complete clusterfucks in their own rights.

I was at a place where they're doing early voting and not a single person walking out of the booth looked happy like they did just last year. Some of them were even crying. There was no joy in participating in the democratic process. 90% of the people knowingly voted for someone they considered reprehensible to keep someone they considered even more reprehensible from getting into office. It wasn't a choice.

Regardless of who wins, there's still some sort of parliament in the USA that has to pass laws. Things won't get any worse than 2008 no matter how nutty Trump or Clinton get.

Likewise with the brits they may have set their country back 20 years, but it'll probably just be slow growth rather than outright fuckery, and most of the people that voted for Brexit would still tell you it was worth it.
