it might have to do with the fact that a. they don't dub media, i learned english simply by watching movies and playing pokemon, they mostly have german dubbed movies and german dubbed games
and more importantly b. german is the largest language in europe, spoken in countries with blooming industry. In Holland and the Nordic countries, englis is seen as a must to get a decent job because we are so small, in germany this is less important.

If 10 means someone talks like a native and 0 means someone is French.
Then I'd give the average person a 6.
we're pretty good overall. I'd say 7/10 or 8/10
there are however some people who insist on using british spelling/pronunciation, who really drag us down.

I live in Andalucia (Malaga) and im just ashamed of the level here. Taxi drivers cant speak it, people in the banks, EVEN POLICE STATIONS cant speak it. I had a foreign friend moving in here and I had to be with him all the time because nobody could deal with him in english. not even in fucking police station. In some countries its REQUIREMENT that you HAVE to speak English in order to work as a police...
>>66568562
4/10 most people just know 3 or 4 basic sentences and some words they heard in songs.
Pronunciation would be like a 2/10
