That's not so much the problem. In theory, it's a good idea. The issue is that acquiring photo identification can be especially difficult for poor voters who can't get easy transportation to a DMV office. On top of that, DMV offices in several impoverished areas have been shut down over the past decade. Personally, I like my state's method of dealing with this - they provide free identification cards for voters who can't get the normal kind.

If photo IDs were just handed out like they are in Europe, it wouldn't be an issue.

A lot of Vietnamese realized by now that the war was fought because of communist propaganda and in Soviet Union/China interests (not the unification of our country/liberation of "oppressed/enslaved South Vietnam" like they were told to believe). The civilization South Vietnam and the US left behind: education system, economic model, industry, infrastructure still cause regret within the Vietnamese even today. It has been over 40 years and we still haven't caught up to South Vietnam in those areas and I'm not even kidding. We hate to admit it openly, especially the veteran who participated in the war but everyone knows that we would be greater economic power than S.Korea had South Vietnam/US won.

There is another reason: Even now our government and school system continue to spread anti-American propaganda on the media and forced student to study Karl Marx's theory: "capitalism is dying". Of course nobody believed that anymore.

When you tell people the same lies for 40+ years it creates an opposite effect: increasingly distrust in the government and the Vietnamese turns to love the US/Western countries. They naively hope that through TTP pacts and other means the US would intervent in our country affairs and install a democratic government topkek.
