You got the wrong idea about Spain completely. I work as a software developer and trust me unemployment or lack of construction bubble arent an issue, in fact housing is a lot more affordable now. The problems this country has are a lack of prestigious tech companies (literally no Facebook or Google development offices in any city of Spain), and lack of social recognition for CS workers, as we're still seen as nerds in this backwards country unlike in america.

I know theres a stereotype of programmers being nerds over there too, but at least in there theres some social recognition for tech for what Ive seen on 4chan and leddit. Here the closest equivalent of San Francisco would be Barcelona and its not even close.
