might aswell ask you while I have you here
do french canadians speak in broken english like actual french people?
I've seen jeremy renner the other day talking about a french-canadian director who spoke in broken english and kept saying "fuck us" instead of "focus" and some other stuff.
I really thought all canadians spoke english, even if they also spoke french.

>do french canadians speak in broken english like actual french people?
No, we don't talk english like french people. In fact, we are surrounded by Anglos so we can practice English with them.
HOWEVER, some people who don't really care about english might speaking Engrish

Quebec here(Though I'm portuguese)
In Quebec the version of French we speak is like a time capsule of French from the 1600s
It didn't evolve or grow into more germanic/Anglo like modern French because of how closed quebecers can be.
Modern day quebecer uses a gross about of franglish (replacing whole words with straight up English) so it sounds much more broken.
But in more remote areas the language hasn't seen any change since the days of "new france"
Tl;dr Québecer is just French that never evolved in till relatively recently.
>>66431905
>French from the 1600s
The Portuguese we speak here in Brazil is more like the Portuguese spoken in Portugal around 1600 too.

>In Quebec the version of French we speak is like a time capsule of French from the 1600s
This is what people from Quebec actually believe.
