As far as self-study to teach yourself a language...doesn't teaching yourself a language rather than having a native speaker teach you fuck up your accent? Will Rosetta Stone o other audio methods of self-study help? Even then, Rosetta Stone doesn't do that good of a job correcting mispronunciations. If you teach yourself too long, you'll continue to make a bad pronunciation mistake and then sound like an idiot, since only a teacher will likely correct you... I suppose thats the trade-off for doing it by yourself and for free?

No, he will literally just say it. And you will hear it.
Actors, Newscasts, Voice actors, etc. most of the time speak very clear and correct form of language.
