Actually Sardinia-Piedmont didn't exist, the name was given afterwards because the Kingdom of Sardinia was basically bought by the Savoia after the Spanish Succession War. The original name was always "Kingdom of Sardinia" and it was founded by the Aragon empire back in the 1300. But there was another kingdom (actually 4) that it had the power in Sardinia, and so there was a war between the original rulers and the aragon empire. Eventually Spaniards won and the Kingdom of Sardinia was officialy founded. This is the simple version
