The selection is amazing. They have obscure stuff that I use to listen to and forgot about. They have artist playlists which are fantastic.

A few times I've stayed up into the early hours just listening to what my favourite artists have been listening to, it's kind of fascinating because you learn about their influences and discover that you like the same songs etc

Never used apple music, even though I have an iphone. I'd choose spotify because it's multi platform, but I prefer manually managing my music.

I could spend five-ten minutes looking for an artist and album through various sources, find one that looks legit, wait a good bit for the whole album to finish downloading, sort it into my music folder and then open it in Foobar to listen to, and only then will I be able to judge whether I like it or not, and either delete it or save it.

Anybody is free to go and post albums on the thread, so it's a lot of different stuff.
Sometimes some threads take on more of a certain theme because someone dumps a lot of albums but generally there's a good mix of stuff.
Sometimes some unorthodox music gets linked, but nothing "scary" like field recordings of a cannabalistic orgy or anything.
The "scariest" thing I've ever come upon is a chinese dark ambient album, which although it's rather creepy, it's quite rad because I've never heard anything like it before.
It's definitely worth going through a thread or two every now and then to find some new music.
Only thing is you probably have to have a more open mind to different kinds of music otherwise you might not find a whole lot of stuff you'll want to listen to
