Well. I'm from a small town, but another town close to us, Shelburne, is a very Loyalist town with the Union Jack flying above everyother house (Without the diagonal red bit). I was thinking of doing an homage to the original British flag, but changing it in a way to show our sovereignty. The inverted color scheme (with the Nova Scotian Arms) makes a point in separatism.

Nice, I wish you all the best in independence then, though I doubt it will ever happen. I've been looking for somewhere comfy to move, might give it a look.

>>66295642
Do you object to a flag like old canada and current Aus + Nz? Could have the UJ in the op corner as usual, then have two lions for New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island sitting on top of the Scottish shield.

I somewhat reject the British Monarchy. While she is technically the "Queen of Canada" in a very real sense, I don't think it reflects the society here. But I also don't believe in "Republicanism".

We're our own people. I've rejected The Canadian "Culture" and the Canadian "Post Nationalism". I might as well reject Canada. I don't believe my ancestors died fighting for a large anti-loyal state. Loyalty is something we're founded on, and that simply doesn't exist in any present form between us and the British royalty.

holy shit i hate canadians, they are always saying stuff like'we never lost a war dont make fun of us'
the thing they dont realise is that most of the time they were at war they were with the most powerful country at the time or it was agaisnt some native.
>>

Canada didn't even have its own army until 1867, there were just militia. The British regiments in the Chesapeake campaign were Napoleonic veterans pulled from Europe during the Hundred Days.
>>
Canada is a nation made of traitors and cucks who didn't want to fight for freedom in the Revolution. They instead ran north to suck the king's nuts.

Not only does the US gloss over the good parts of 1812 Canada was responsible for by focusing on New Orleans or their (admittedly fucking hilarious) ability to kick the shit out of the Royal Navy, but we do it ourselves as well by focusing on an insignificant act of spite because some insecure morons think we need to hate on or upstage the Yanks to show our patriotism. The heyday of Canada wasn't when our colonial overlords burned down a government building far from our side of the fight, and it probably wasn't even when Canadian militia successfully defended their land against three separate American invasions. It was probably when Canadian came together from across the country at Vimy, or when we became known for sending peacekeepers to help those in need and we started being relevant on the world stage as a nation with a purpose. Which we've since forgotten, apparently.
>>
>>66304830
descendants of American loyalists are mostly in Ontario desu. Don't judge us all by our shittiest province.
>>
>>66294216
The burning took place in 1814, though.
Canadian militias didn't do shit.

Canadians taking credit for the redcoats.

once the British fought the southerners they got btfo. In the USA the yankees have always been shit tier at war.
>>
>>66306512
The war was literally already over, you just murdered a bunch of jocks on holiday.
>>
>>66306548
None of them knew that.
News hadn't reached neither side. They fought like if they had been at war.
>>
>>66293645
The regiments responsible were 90% Irish.
>>
>>66306512

Jesus, what an insignificant battle. Is this really what Americans get their knickers in a twist over?
>>
>>66306601
Nah mate, those poor pasty ginger buggers just wanted a tan and you shot them for it. You heartless bastards.
>>
At the time of the war the US states had a combined manpower of around 700K men in different state militias.

A lot of them, specially yankee troops refused to fight for many reasons.

>>66306711
Also, The treaty was signed in the 24th, night attacks in new orleans started the night of the 23rd and the treaty wasn't even ratified until february of the next year.

>americans this desperate to try and turn the murder of Scottish tourists into a great military victory
>>
>>66306791
they should just own up to it. It's not like anyone would judge them for it.
>>
>>66306851
Yeah, I mean I get it, who doesn't want to shoot Scottish tourists every once and a while? We'd all respect them a lot more if they just owned up to it.
>>
>>66306667
look at the people on americas side. It's one thing that the british got utterly btfo, but it's mostly about how pirates, farmers, choctaw warriors, and slaves came together and somehow beat someone way stronger.
>>
blimey. canadians are mental, dont mess with them!

>>66307170
I just find the Americans losing their shit about something so irrelevant hilarious tbqh. We were having minor skirmishes against the french with similar casualties during this time.

>building far from our side of the fight, and it probably wasn't even when Canadian militia successfully defended their land against three separate American invasions

It was two-sided. The British tried to counter-invade the US from Canada but were turned back on Lake Erie and at Plattsburgh.

Two-sided in terms of British vs the US. The general feeling up here is that we succeeded at fighting off the Americans and defended our land, thus achieving our goal in the war and winning.

>Brits: Discipline unruly son/get back NA clay - got btfo by yanks, maintained grip on Canada at least
>Americans: Annex Canada and give Britbongs the middle finger - annexation failed, finger given
>Canadians: don't get fucking annexed - victory
>First Nations peoples - Don't get fucked in the ass - TrailofTear'd

So we didn't really win the war, but we achieved all our goals. The Brits and Yanks won some and lost some. The only real loser was the aboriginals.
>>
Canada of all parties were actually the least happy with the outcome of the war since the US and Britain agreed to demilitarize the border, causing many Canadians to feel that London had betrayed them and left them exposed to future invasion.
>>
>>66306753
The US in 1812 had at least 1 million men of military age, but for some reason it was never possible to get more than 7000 troops into battle.
>>
>>66306662
So Brits, then
