Here it is called Deepavali. It is celebrated by souless sales at shopping malls and hypermarket. The decos at shopping malls go up one month before and go down the day after Deepavali to make way for Christmas decos. Malls here are constantly on festive sales: Chinese New Year, Eid Fitr, Eid Adha, Deepavali, Christmas.

usually indians bring some samosas and sweets into work

they also set off a buttload of fireworks, which is ok because guy fawkes falls around the same time so it's the season for doing that
