Why don't you just call it New Scotland anyway?
>>
So what you're saying is that I could drive my Chevy Nova from Scotia, NY, to Nova Scotia without boarding a ferry?

Atlantic Canada is barely relatable to me in BC. I care about Cascadia, California, and Alberta.

I'm more American than Canadian at this point culturally.

Damn why are the buildings so colourful? is it to prevent depression like in Greenland?
>>
>>66272553
mostly tradition carried from the industrial era
the most common colours of paint in port cities of the time were very bright and stood out
those were the colours necessary for commercial ships in order for them to stand out in water, and therefore were the most common and cheap colours you could get

nah, usually 11pm - 4am newfoundland time
>>
>>66272824
You're leeching off of me you sick fuck.

That's why we need to separate from the rest of this sinking ship and join with America, we could keep more of our money, have a stronger dollar, and unfettered access to the US market, instead of having to support a bunch of crypto-rednecks living on a dying island.

Their GDP is ~70% consumer spending, this isn't very good bud. Couple that with the demographic suicide they are committing it will not be pretty.

Unfortunately weedman will probably race them to the >50% white demographics.

This is fascinating I've always wondered this kind of stuff and now I get to observe it in the wild. Like watching a rare European turtle mount its partner with my phone camera or something

Our country has huge regional strife because we have no real shared national identity and share more with our neighboring state than the other provinces.
>>
>>66274500
Honestly, it's just a country that developed too closely to the US to really have its own "identity". I'm a burger in Calgary studying right now and besides general geographic knowledge differences, peoples' speech patterns, topics and behaviors are culturally nearly identical to the US (besides the odd differently spelled word or term used, like washroom) and the cars being the exact same as the US also surprisingly drives home the homogenity to me.

Businesses, schools, all that are run almsot identically. Policy is near identical. It's really kinda surreal. I like it, it's really a north american identity. Canada, at least west of Toronto, is just an extension of whatever state is below it. I don't think that's wrong, either. I think it's pretty cool.

Only big difference is upper level government, but the policy (as i said) ends up being near-American anyway so yeah.

I really like it here. It's like a USA without all the bullshit stigma/drama attached and I can maintain my home lifestyle almost exactly.
>>
>>66274679
The big issue is jobs.

I get paid a good 50% less here in software than I would across the border, and it's bloody tempting to go there.

I'd suggest you boys come visit the US for a bit. It's not what you guys might think it is.

I've been to Canada before. I've concluded objectively that Canadian cities are generally smaller, cleaner, safer versions of our cities.

That being said there's a lot to life living in the nice part (keep that shit in mind because there are bad parts to every city) of a large US city.

I live in the north side of chicago and I got some Canadian friends. They all really like the nice areas of this city. I've been told they feel more at home here than they did in Canada.

If you expect to integrate well and meet new people and try new things, I think a Canadian can have a lot of fun for the 6 month non visa vacation time Canadians are allotted in the US
>>
>>66274826
Canada is also really boring, along with being safe.

I always get the feeling here that everyone is pretending to be nice to each other, but something more sinister is broiling just below the surface, which is why I'm glad we don't all have guns.

Is there actually stuff going on in Chicago? I feel like New York City and Los Angeles have a lot of important economic and cultural institutions that are famous across the world, whereas Chicago has... the former Sears tower and shitty pizza. That's literally everything I know about the city.
