It's actually well over 400 times as large. Not only is Russia fuckhueg, but NL is rather small as well. If you restrict your attention to the landmasses, Russia is almost 500 times as large as the Netherlands.

In fact, Russia is as big as a planet: Pluto.

In terms of land area, The top dozen or so sovereign states control about half of the world's clay, much of which is uninhabitable backwater/desert/frozn wasteland. throwing out Antarctica and the world's oceans shows why there are so many small countries in the world, the Netherlands among them.

The International Astronomical Union changed their definition, and all the newspapers ran with it because demoting a planet is fantastic clickbait.
However the IAU is just an association, not a governing body.
NASA directors have actually derided the definition:
