It's really just suburban kids who think it's cool.

As a white person from a majority black area I can tell you that they're seen as clowns by most everyone except other suburban white kids. Rural people think their clowns. Urban whites think they're clowns. Blacks think they're clowns. Every other minority group thinks they're clowns. Everyone knows it's fake but we smile and laugh because it's honestly pretty funny to watch them make total asses of themselves while thinking they're cool.

Until it starts to get racist in which case no one is going to stop Tyrone and Jerome from beating their ass.
