I think it's a pun, the blue might be #1143AD, which is the year we came to be independent from Leon.

The original, royal blue is still in the shields at the centre. What triggers me about our flag is that WE WUZ SAILORS N SHIET, but we have no Ocean blue on our flag, and instead we have a colourblind test because some idiot thought it'd be superfab and edgy to renounce the monarchy.

In São Miguel we go fishing in the fresh water lake which is a 10 minute walk from the ocean. What we catchoose in the lake we use as bait when we heado to the beach.

Sure we're poorer than those on the mainland but it's very stress free here.

It's one lake that's made out of two different volcanoes.

The island is called Sao Miguel. It's the biggest and most populated island at 250k

I'm from the north coast about 20 minutes away from there.

I really enjoy going back and visiting.
And I'm already planning my move back. My family still has some heads of cattle and some farm land.

Sadly a lot Moore tourist from northern euro are coming and buying up a lot of the land for summer homes. So the fact that my family kept our land makes it worth a fortune.

I don't plan on selling it though.

Otherwise it's just basically a New Zealand-y type archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic. Temperatures vary from 21ºC in the winter to 22ºC in the Summer. Light rain and sun toggle every 2 hours, and everything is green and full of cows. You can find a lot of UNESCO-protected stuff both there and in Madeira, too. You can have a stew cooked with magma heat in a hole in the ground, I believe.

Some of the islands have thick as fuck accents, though, and some old, extra-patriotic geezers make it even harsher on purpose to the point where we need subtitles on TV to get it.

Pretty comfy place, I hear. I've never actually been.

I have it rough when it comes to that. My mother and father are from two different island. So my portuguese is made up of the general azorean accent, with Grammer and words only used on my father's island as well as Grammer and words only used on my mother's island.

I have to repeat myself a lot when ever I'm in the mainland.

A nice joke people say to me is that I don't speak portuguese, I speak the açor
