Almost all flags are pretty shit, mostly due to lack of complexity, there are reasons for this though. Some of those small-as-fuck countries have nice flags though.

The HRE flag is cool looking, but is not simple enough to draw out on a piece of paper, and it's boring to some people because the only thing this flag has going for it is a eagle, and thats it.
A better eagle for simplistic purposes would be pic related.

I unironically believe that the French flag is downright beautiful, even if it's just a simple triband.
Maybe it's just my patriotic side.

As for other tribands I like, the orange version of the Netherlands flag is a lot nicer than the colgate one they have and Estonia's is top tier
Poland's variant flag (the one with the coat of arms) is great as well, would be even better if they changed their eagle to look less like a chicken.
Denmark has my favorite of all the nordic cross flags
