The easiest way to land a permanent job in the US and become a citizen is probably joining a multinational corporation with a degree that's in demand and then just await the opportunity to travel abroad for a few years.

Once you've crossed the pond, you can make a name for yourself, which might turn some heads and spark the interest of competitors. It's MUCH easier to convince your employer to go through the whole H1B process once you've already proven yourself in the US market. From there, it's pretty much just about keeping your job, bam! green card, bam! citizen.

If the headhunters don't bite, your next best option is to just really put your back into the job, the US location might want to keep you afterwards.

If you mean eastern face of the Rockies, the yes and no. Denver is technically on the plains and outside of the Rockies, even though it is just east of the Rockies. Their climate is somewhat arid and sunny, as you would expect for the Plains.

But on the other side you have Salt Lake City. It also has relatively light rainfall because it's in the desert at a somewhat low elevation, but the mountains just 10 km behind them they receive more snow than most other places in the Rockies.

It's also about access. Denver will get 20cm of snowfall, then it evaporates within 2 days. But you can drive at 110 kph to any of 10 ski areas within an hour until May. The same with Salt Lake City.

It's a combination of altitude and location.
