Not really true. Hitler was partly elected because unemployment was high and he really lowered it significantly. At least being a child or teenager wasn't, from what I've heard from my grandparents and grandaunt, it must have been a quite adventurous time and the HJ was a lot of fun. They really didn't have a bad childhood back than and got normal nutrition and good education. I can't tell about older persons at that time, because I have no original source for that. But from what I've heard, if you didn't have to fight and didn't live in a city that was bombed, life was quite good. Everyone had work and it was adventurous. The real bad time came after the war.

German invasion of France should be no-brainer, since French had already declared war on Germany and Germany decided to take decisive action in order to knock them out of the war.

As for Russia, it is far more complicated. Operation Barbarossa might have been a genuine pre-emptive strike, or it might have not been, but I can say for certain that Soviet Union's ultimate intention was to expand it's borders and to create puppet states.

Either way, I am quite sure Germany hadn't made such invasion if UK and France hadn't declared war on Germany.
